Ruby Tuesday- Fall Lazy Flare

While taking photo's of Some Ruby Fall flowers. which hubby gave me. I noticed something in the Tree.

That's right it's a Red Squirrel sunning on the limb.It just sat there while I took photos.
I never saw anything like this.

Oh yes here are the original rubies I was taking.

Ruby Tuesday-Tulip Time in DC

The rules for the Ruby Tuesday meme are: It must have red somewhere in it and be one you took yourself. Now Mary over at "The Work of the Poet" is the sponsor of the Meme. While at the Festival in Washington DC, we visited the Tulip display. Here are some photos.

This is just amazing, I love the color in the petals.

Now these have a unique petal shape.

I like the color striation from the deep rose red to the lighter pink.

The final tulip I chose is a Pink one, Okay that's a watered down red, right?
I have never seen one like this, the petal look as though the were shredded.
But No theywere not.

Now how can I have you leave without showing some National Cherry Blossom Icons. Every year we go to the Parade.

Rainy Day Here-Spring Work Started

Yes it's a raining day. In a way I'm excited because I know that work in the garden beds will be easier. Tomorrow I plan on spending some time turning the beds. It is still too early to plant anything, we were still in winter here. However in a few weeks it will be time. This is a great chance to prepare the soil. I think this year I want to plant on English garden. I would love to have one that can have a seasonal spread. When visited gardens I am always drawn to the english versions. It must be the colors and smells. Setting among the sweet smelling flowers is a joy. A garden pleasing to the eye, makes one want to be outside more. There are many Garden spots in my yard. One of them has been in the making for about three years. We have composted there and added nutrients for years. I have had worms and snakes working the soil. This year will be the year to transform it in to that English garden. Excited to start and showing the progress to you all. So let the rain soften the soil, for it has began the process of spring yard work.

New Roses.

New roses. Hubby had been giving me rose since valentine's day. I have them all over the house. Feel like those movie scenes,

What do I do with the spent pedals?.....
Dry them in a basket.

I now see roses when working in the kitchen, coming into the house through the Dinning room and working at the computer. What a joy. By drying them I have a smell for a long time.

Ruby Tuesday -Christmas Cactus

This Christmas cactus is about five years old. Every year it Blooms from Later November through February. Blooming longer than must do. I keep it out in the Sun room. The lighting and temp is perfect for it. I do not turn the heat on until the temp out side remains in the 30 and below. Then the heater stove is set to 63. Once she starts to bloom I will feed her. I have several photos for you, you can enlarge them for a closer view.

She was just budding here.
I placed her on the stove so I could get a good photo.
Normally she is high up on a shelve by the window.

Look closely to see the buds. Some are just starting.

Now they are starting to open up.
The Ball is a watering device that works well in distributing the nourishment to her

Colorado Flowers

All these plants are found it 7,000 to 11,000 ft above sea level.

This is a bed my our friends house,I really liked the brick wall. Most of the home gardens contained these types of plants

A garden to attract hummingbirds and butterflies

These are flower found at 10,000 ft. In a area of the Gold Mines.
I believe these are

Berlandiera lyrata Benth.

Chocolate daisy

The next two photos are of Winter Cactus. they can survive -40 degrees Fahrenheit and can withstand brutally hot heat

Colorado Cactus- there were on the tail end of there flowering. Was told the flowers in full bloom line the Arkansas River banks. What I sight to see!

The hill sides were covered with these plants.

The Confused Bee....

Raining Today... I wanted to post all about the wild life in my yard. Been taking photos of it. Will post it next Week. For today I wanted to post a Photo of an Confused Bee. While outside yesterday setting up for the School's Out Party, Dad and I saw this bee. He was flying around the Easter Lilly (a Late bloomer this year), not sure if he really wanted its' nectar. It was odd to me, but I guess this bee had not seen an Easter Lilly Before,lol.
