We had some work done to the yard preparing it for winter. A new gate and side fence. Took out a garden. Removed some Trees and brushes. Replaced our back deck and railing with a composite wood looking material. that will be good for less upkeep. We have had some health issues and have to lighten up the load of work around the yard. I will be posting more about those&Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166653103706778907.post-1076581081768693122016-11-10T11:53:00.000-05:002016-11-10T11:53:07.280-05:00New Ideas for the Fall Holiday Yard
We just got back from Disney. I loved all the Fall decorations. Now is it time to decorate my Yard for the Seasons. Fall and Winter. This year I have lots of Ideas. Doing things different. Having A new look to the Yard.
With the Fall in Full Swing, it is time for Fall trimming and cleaning. We have already had a frost so, it is not time to trim back the roses and vines. Also the treesUnknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166653103706778907.post-50073118406029726852016-03-19T09:12:00.000-04:002016-03-19T09:12:21.812-04:00Spring Projects. The end of last year our sewage line broke. Causing the front yard to be dug up. Now that spring is almost here, it is time to get it back to normal. In the next few weeks we will be having the sidewalk, grass and the landscaping rocks replaced. We decided that the area next to the house needed to be Rocked. On the the problems we had was the mowers hit the sewage pipe often. this cause Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166653103706778907.post-28823116942067731702016-01-23T07:37:00.003-05:002016-01-23T10:09:30.538-05:00The First Real Winter Storm We were told a Blizzard was on its way. I doubted them. So many times the weather forecaster have predicted weather conditions that never appear in our town. Sometimes north of us and some times south in DC.
Well I will have to admit It looks like we will be getting that Blizzard. This is what we got since yesterday evening.

Not much going on in the Garden. Our first Snow came Sunday the 17 Jan. It was just flurries with not sticking to the ground. The temps are still in the teens and twenties. Still waiting for that big storm. I do think the new wall look good even in the winter. That is not snow it is rocks. I think we made a good choice using them. It is much easier to maintain.

This year the bloom has been starting later. We had a harsh and long Winter, as must in the East has. I have been traveling a lot with family issues. So I was glad to be home during the blooming season. ( click on the photos for an up close look)

I notice the daylilies are just now forming buds. They should be in bloom in a couple weeks.
We are starting some yard work soon. building a retainer wall and moving some Azaleas and Japanese box woods. I also want to move some roses, however Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166653103706778907.post-3810937000392706452013-04-09T15:34:00.000-04:002013-04-11T15:26:42.850-04:00Spring has Sprung....time for a ChangeSpring has had a rough time coming to our area. The last few days have been warm and sunny enough to start some projects. The first one is the Brick patio. It was first put in around ten years ago. We have re-sand it twice. The ants and weeds have been hard to keep up with. So, this year I decided after reading up on patios, to use a polymer sand.
We started by using our pressure washer to cleanUnknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166653103706778907.post-44894415661685654462012-09-01T12:14:00.000-04:002012-09-01T12:14:42.867-04:00Gardens and Yards- Changes in mind.We are still in the summer time. Our weather is still in the 90's and the rains have not come. The Pool is still looking cool. One thing good this year is we have not had to use a heater for the pool. I just wish we were here long enough to used it. If you visited my other blogs, you know we have been busy with College things, family matters and traveling.

Yesterday we enjoyed 60+ degrees. Now that was a great day. Felt like a warm spring day. Or maybe a winter in Florida! Yes we are in the Eastern coast and it is Winter. However, the temps have been all over the place. We have seen no snow that stayed on the ground. Did have a little flurries once. Now last year it looked like thisEnd of Jan 2011a snowy night. This year Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166653103706778907.post-56380123988697036982011-11-10T07:45:00.005-05:002011-11-10T08:18:43.575-05:00A Fall ScenesA Fall View-Foggy MorningWell we are in the Fall months. I have noticed that this year fall was been like I remembered as a child. The Scenes are beautiful and the morning are filled with Fog complete with that eerie feeling.I really like this season, the time in between the summer and winter. It all started out with heavy down pours in May. In June the heat came and boy was it hot! I felt like I had been transported to the midwest. With temp in the 100 and over. then we had some bad storms. Last week one took down a neighbors tree and it landed across our yard. They finely removed it yesterday. Then two days ago we had a earthquake that Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166653103706778907.post-8915024076267039222011-08-10T07:43:00.002-04:002011-08-10T08:15:30.799-04:00Summer time....Sharing the PoolsideWell it is the middle of summer time. The weather has been very hot. It is like I moved my house to Arizona. the heat is okay however, it is hard to breathe at times. I haven't been to any gardens lately due to the fact that the heat is so unbearable. We are going south in a week , so I will be able to visit a few gardens. Maybe even some with ponds.
We have been dealing with frogs by our pool. We had been enjoying a warm front the past few days. Time to get out in the yard and do some cleaning up. Preparing those garden plots and flower beds for spring. Now the winds have arrived, a cold front appearing. One gets that spring feeling and can not wait to see those first flower popping up.Even through it is windy, cleaning the area can still be down. So, todayUnknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166653103706778907.post-18144844275626382522011-02-09T13:00:00.002-05:002011-02-09T13:27:31.351-05:00Is Phil right?Still cold here. We have some days of warmth, however the cold returns. I heard that Phil did not see his shadow on the 2nd of February. That is suppose to mean, spring will arrive early.Heard his track record is not good, about 30% right. So will we have an early spring time? I going to bet yes. It seems that Phil has been wrong on the late arrivals. He seems to not see his shadow about 30% of Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166653103706778907.post-32375108660523782952011-01-25T22:21:00.002-05:002011-01-25T22:27:52.631-05:00On Winter VacationWell we went on a winter vacation to the Mountains. Decided to have a long weekend of Snow Fun. Last night the temps were in the low single digits. With the wind chill it was in the negative numbers! Needless to say we did not go Tubing. It was just too cold. We did arrive about 6pm, so we settle into the rental home and then went out to the market and grabbed something to eat. Winter mix has arrived....Today we had a nice winter day, however this evening and sleet and ice/snow mix arrived. It looks like it will be with us throughout the evening and into the morning hours. It is a good thing I had a change the cover and prepare the plants in the yard. Winter is a tricky time in this area. Oh those Flakes....Well, yesterday we got some snow. Not much but at least is stayed on the ground... the flakes were small and large. I like the large ones. Schools are delayed today in our area. However the road look great at our home. One of the problems is that I live in a very large county. It could be fine in one area and in the North Eastern part a mess. One newscaster will say no snow and than another will say an update.... just in, snow in forecast. We will get a dusting and I really mean a dusting. It is gone by the mid day! Now I am not liking this one bit! The cold temp and no snow on the ground. Everything is brown and the wind has a bite to it.
