Gardens and Yards- Changes in mind.

We are still in the summer time. Our weather is still in the 90's and the rains have not come. The Pool is still looking cool. One thing  good this year is we have not had to use a heater for the pool. I just wish we were here long enough to  used it. If you visited my other blogs, you know we have been busy with College things, family matters and traveling.

The yard has suffered some due to the heat. We cut it less due to the lack of rain and temps.  We planted a rose garden  but, the heat was not good for it. Will have to work on it for next year. Lost a few hedges. Had to cut them down. Will be replacing them next spring.

Our coleuses and lazy Suzie plants did well. I had them on a automatic water system. However the roses did not like the watering. Planted some English boxwoods, they are doing well.

While in Canada we saw some planters and flower layout I really liked. Thinking of adding the look to my yard for next year. (Photo above) Next to the fence it would look great. Also under the deck on the side of the house. I can put window boxes off the deck railings.

Now the fall preps will start. Need to get out and weed out the weak stuff. Trim the hedges and clear out some of the gardens.

Our Crazy 2012 Weather

The weather has been crazy. Yesterday we enjoyed 60+ degrees. Now that was a great day. Felt like a warm spring day. Or maybe a winter in Florida! Yes we are in the Eastern coast and it is Winter. However, the temps have been all over the place. We have seen no snow that stayed on the ground. Did have a little flurries once.
Now last year it looked like this
End of Jan 2011
a snowy night.
This year we set on the porch and enjoyed the spring evening.

Each year has a different pattern for weather. so unpredictable, Even the mountain resorts are having to make snow in our area. I have not made plans to go this year. We are having a family winter fun in a couple weeks at White tail. I hope there will be natural snow for us. If not we can enjoy some drinks as we sit by a fire,or a walk in the cool air.

So, How is your neck of the woods, Is your weather acting like your season?
