New Ideas for the Fall Holiday Yard

We just got back from Disney. I loved all the Fall decorations. Now is it time to decorate my Yard for the Seasons. Fall and Winter. This year I have lots of Ideas. Doing things different. Having A new look to the Yard.

With the Fall in Full Swing, it is time for  Fall trimming and cleaning. We have already had a frost so, it is not time to trim back the roses and vines. Also the trees need pruning.

This year I am going the trim and hedges and put the holiday light on them. Starting early to  enjoy the Holiday season coming up. I will post some before and after photos later on , Stop by for sure to check it out.

Spring Projects.

The end of last year our sewage line broke. Causing the front yard to be dug up. Now that spring is almost here, it is time to get it back to normal. In the next few weeks we will be having the sidewalk,  grass and the landscaping rocks replaced. We decided that the area next to the house needed to be Rocked. On the the problems we had was the mowers hit the sewage pipe often. this cause some of the problem. Putting stress on the old pipes. to keep this from happening We are landscape that area with river rock.

When they dug up the yard it destroyed the grass, We are having that replace with area Sod. The landscapers we are using we have used before. They sodded the back yard which turned great. Using local sod from local sod farm. Freshly cut.

The sidewalk needs to be totally replaced. It is a Stained one, We are having them mix the stain in the concrete. That way it will not peel, as it does on newly poured Concrete. We learned that several years ago on our driveway.

So the project will start in a couple weeks. I will add some photos then.

The First Real Winter Storm

We were told a Blizzard was on its way. I doubted them. So many times the weather forecaster have predicted weather conditions that never appear in our town. Sometimes north of us and some times south in DC.

Well I will have to admit It looks like we will be getting that Blizzard. This is what we got since yesterday evening.

This is a covered front porch, the steps are not covered

The Porch, the snow was blown in here. This is the covered part

I opened the door, this amount was blown on the porch.

Backyard, it is still snowing.

that is an 18 inch stone wall.

We still have one more day of snow.  Now it is time for Cinnamon Bread and Hot Chocolate. We plan on Hunkering down for the weekend,  Movies and Great Winter Food.

Winter in the Garden

We are in Winter now. Not much going on in the Garden. Our first Snow came Sunday the 17 Jan. It was just flurries with not sticking to the ground. The temps are still in the teens and twenties. Still waiting for that big storm. I do think the new wall look good even in the winter. That is not snow it is rocks. I think we made a good choice using them. It is much easier to maintain.

In November we had a sewage line break. so the Front sidewalk was removed to do the repairs. We made a Deck bridge to put there for the winter. However in the spring we will have to repair the sidewalk in front.

Sometime I would love to have a four season garden. There is a lot of planning for that. It might take a few years to develop it. Still in the thought progress.

As for now the spring and summer project are in development. Replacing the fence, Grass replacement in the front and the driveway and sidewalk repairs.
