A Fall Scenes

A Fall View-Foggy Morning

Well we are in the Fall months. I have noticed that this year fall was been like I remembered as a child. The Scenes are beautiful and the morning are filled with Fog complete with that eerie feeling.
I really like this season, the time in between the summer and winter. It is like the earth deciding which one to embrace. One day it is sunny and warm the next Cool and foggy. We even had a taste of the snow this fall.

The season for hot toddies and outdoor fires. Smores and wieners, Marshmallow on a stick flaming to be blown out and popped into your mouth. Oh, and let's not leave out that cup of Warm spiced Wine!

I got to lights up on the Gazebo and the fire pit in place. Now for the evenings of fire and romance. With the sun going down earlier, we can have that cup of soup and enjoy a roaring fire and still have time for evening shows.

Oh I think it is party time for us!

How is your morning view?

Natures furry....

Natures furry has been giving us a grand time. It all started out with heavy down pours in May. In June the heat came and boy was it hot! I felt like I had been transported to the midwest. With temp in the 100 and over. then we had some bad storms. Last week one took down a neighbors tree and it landed across our yard. They finely removed it yesterday. Then two days ago we had a earthquake that shook our house and allowed the snake to come into the house. The neighbor boy removed the gardener snake for me. It seemed like I had moved back to California. We were lucky because I have always attached the Cabinets to the wall and used Museum goop to hold my knick-knacks to the shelves.

Now I had to take down the gazebo covers and store all the outside furniture. Thanks to Hurricane Irene, heading our way. I think we are in for a rough fall and winter.

Here are some photos of the Nature furry we have.......

The tree down across our backyard

Storm across the skies....
this was in Myrtle beach the same time as the tree went down at our home.
Yes we were on vacation when it happened.

When we returned home on Monday we were greeted with the tree!

Summer time....Sharing the Poolside

Well it is the middle of summer time. The weather has been very hot. It is like I moved my house to Arizona. the heat is okay however, it is hard to breathe at times. I haven't been to any gardens lately due to the fact that the heat is so unbearable. We are going south in a week , so I will be able to visit a few gardens. Maybe even some with ponds.

We have been dealing with frogs by our pool. They are very active this year. These are tree frogs and do not have a fear of humans. I did manage to get a few photos for you.

I think these are white's tree frogs. It is really strange swimming with them around. I really do not like frogs. My daughter is the one that takes them and relocates them to a different area.

This frog is in the liner of the pool.
He likes it live there.

This frogs is on the ladder .
You can see it is a tree frog. Notice it's feet and they very sticky

Now in the sunlight and being moved.
Notice how white it is.

Now moved to a tree in our yard.

The Winds.....The Rain...Spring Time Near!

The winds have arrived here. We had been enjoying a warm front the past few days. Time to get out in the yard and do some cleaning up. Preparing those garden plots and flower beds for spring. Now the winds have arrived, a cold front appearing. One gets that spring feeling and can not wait to see those first flower popping up.
Even through it is windy, cleaning the area can still be down. So, today I will be continuing the task.
Planning an herb garden and a flower bed. Cleaning out an old over grown area.

So this blog is back in section. Growing season and garden visitation will be coming back. The Winter break was nice. We enjoyed the outdoor activities as well as the little indoor flowering views.
Back to the out doors and yard view. Oh I am looking forward to the Lilacs this year. Oh that Smell......

Is Phil right?

Still cold here. We have some days of warmth, however the cold returns. I heard that Phil did not see his shadow on the 2nd of February. That is suppose to mean, spring will arrive early.
Heard his track record is not good, about 30% right. So will we have an early spring time? I going to bet yes. It seems that Phil has been wrong on the late arrivals. He seems to not see his shadow about 30% of the time. So just maybe that is when he is right.

We all would love to see Spring's early arrival. That will give us more time to get the soil ready and see the flowers in full form. I love the spring foliage and look forward to the lilacs as well as other fresh smells. Even the tulips and Cherry Blossom are great to see. It has been a few years since we have seen the Cherry Blossoms in full bloom on time.

St Patty's parade would be nice to view in warmer weather. Standing in the Rain and cold just is not my idea of fun viewing the parade.

Well, we usually have a snow event on Valentines Day . So I think that will happen for us this year. Today the weather is bitterly cold. Temps in the low 30's. I am staying warm by the fire and drinking my coffee.

What are you doing and how is the weather forecast in your neck of the country?

Coldest Time of the Winter.

We are in the mountains of Western Maryland today. Decided to have a long weekend of Snow Fun. Last night the temps were in the low single digits. With the wind chill it was in the negative numbers! Needless to say we did not go Tubing. It was just too cold. We did arrive about 6pm, so we settle into the rental home and then went out to the market and grabbed something to eat. The ride takes about 3 hours from our home to Wisp. There is plenty of snow here and it was snowing last night. The cross winds are wicked, blowing drifts across the road. Looking like little tornado's twisting in the plains of Oklahoma! Oh yes this is the winter here.

Today we plan on doing some Snowmobiling and then maybe some tubing. I will love to sit by the fire at wisp. When we were here a few weeks ago, There was a great fire at the ice-skating outdoor rink. The photo of it is above. I Love to sit by a fire in the outdoors, there is just something about fresh air and the smell of a burning fire. The warm and coldness at the same time. I takes me back to my younger years living in Colorado.

(Wisp, fire at the rink)

This will be the first time for me to do snowmobiling. Last season, I went snowshoeing while everyone went snowmobiling. I saw them flip it and then that was the end of that ride. I took me 30minutes to get to them. Due to the fact I was by the lake and had to go around it. I vowed I would never ride on one. Well here I am, going to drive one for the first time in my life! Everyone says I will love it, we will see.

The weather is suppose to be on the low teens this morning and the entire day, so we will layer up. maybe we will rent some cross country skis and do the Nordic trail afterward.

How the weather in your neck of the woods?

Weather update here. Winter mix has arrived....

Today we had a nice winter day, however this evening and sleet and ice/snow mix arrived. It looks like it will be with us throughout the evening and into the morning hours.
It is a good thing I had a change the cover and prepare the plants in the yard. Winter is a tricky time in this area. Sometimes the plants get the wrong message, and think spring is coming.
Writing about the yard and garden in the winter month can be challenging. However I love to plant winter plants. So the next few week I will be blogging about some winter choices in landscaping. For now the Evergreens are swaying in the neighborhood. I think one strong storm wind will bring them down. We had ours removed two years ago, due to this purpose. It was very scary to see it bend in the wind. Now looking at the neighbors, they are almost touching the house tops. I will keep an good eye on them. Stay tune to the winter post.

Let it snow! Oh those Flakes....

Well, yesterday we got some snow. Not much but at least is stayed on the ground... the flakes were small and large. I like the large ones. Schools are delayed today in our area. However the road look great at our home. One of the problems is that I live in a very large county. It could be fine in one area and in the North Eastern part a mess. With the cities and country being so spread out, it makes the Public Schools have to delay and some time close schools. My daughter is not liking this this year. For if they call school closed , we will not be able to go to Canada in June.We have a Reunion to go to and was hoping to visit Canada afterwards. If school is called off even once then we will not be able to go. She will have to get back for finals. I am hoping the storms will choose times they have of school already.
Did you get any Snow yet?

Our Winter Weather

Here in Maryland we are having a mixture of things. One newscaster will say no snow and than another will say an update.... just in, snow in forecast. We will get a dusting and I really mean a dusting. It is gone by the mid day! Now I am not liking this one bit!
The cold temp and no snow on the ground. Everything is brown and the wind has a bite to it. How depressing is this.....

I think we will try to have a fire in the next couple day and roast Marshmallows, to make Smores. I least that will be a little comforting for me. Comfort food always pick me up. So Off to the Store for some Graham Crackers for the Smores. I can Just Taste them now. How the Weather in your Town? Any signs of winter there?

**Photo of last years winter-of course this was taken in the month of February. So I think there is still hope here.
